Short summary/Player description:
Shagari is 7'3" Center with an 8'1" wingspan. He is a shot blocker that will alter shots and be a strong force for any team's interior defense. He plays very good on the ball defense and is a great weak side defender. He can guard all positions from the Power Forward to the Center position. On the offensive side of the ball Shagari is a great asset in the post area. He has a great array of post moves and a soft touch around the rim. With his leadership personality, great skill-set and hard work attitude, Shagari can change a game on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. While playing in the D-League in the 2009-10 season Shagari averaged 2.3ppg, 3.9rpg, 2.2 bpg, and shot 52% from the field. Last year he played in the EBA for the New York Wizards where he averaged 16ppg, 10rbp, and 4bpg. As a high school standout, Shagari averaged 21.0 ppg, 14.0 rpg and 5.0 bpg as a senior for Rice High School. He was a three-year starter for the Raiders, who compiled an 82-28 record during his tenure at the school. Moreover, he was a three-time All-City selection and helped lead his team to city and state titles as a junior while averaging 18.0 ppg and 12.0 rpg. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2002 state playoffs and was twice named first-team All-State.
